Hi! My name is Dion (they/them). I grew up in a tiny rainforest town just north of Cairns, and I've always stood out, always been a little different, a bit of a weirdo. I’ve never quite fit into the moulds expected of me, and for most of my life, I struggled to find spaces where I truly felt welcome and at home.

That didn’t change when I entered the beauty industry; if anything, the pressure to fit in only intensified, but it also lit a fire in me. I knew from the beginning that one day I wanted to create a space that felt different, one where people like me could feel safe, celebrated, and truly cared for.

​

My journey started at around twelve, shaping brows for my mum, sister, and (occasionally) even my dad. I discovered that I loved pampering people and helping them feel cared for and comfortable in their skin. After high school, while figuring out what I wanted to do, I felt drawn to beauty, but I hesitated, unsure if there was room in the industry for someone like me. In 2019, I took the leap and enrolled in a Diploma of Beauty Therapy.

 

From day one, I knew I’d found my thing.

I fell in love with the work: brows, lashes, skin, massage - everything that comes with caring for people in a gentle, hands-on way. I developed foundational skills in brows, lashes, waxing, nails, makeup, skin, massage, and spa, along with essential knowledge in hygiene, health and safety. I worked in a training salon, where I not only refined my techniques but also learned how to hold space for others with care and intention.

After graduating, I worked in Cairns for three years - always working with brows and lashes, that's always been my bread and butter, but beginning with a lot of spa and massage work. This helped me deepen my skills in reading energy and tailoring treatments to suit each individual. Later, I expanded into skin and advanced skin treatments, developing in-depth knowledge and working closely with clients to address concerns and help them feel more at home in their skin. That process of connection and care, building genuine relationships, has always been the most meaningful part of my work.

After moving to Brisbane, I underwent intensive cosmetic tattoo training. I started with microblading and shaded brows and then expanded into eyeliner, lip tattooing, freckles, and advanced nano hairstroke techniques. I now specialise in all forms of machine brows: powder, ombré, shading, combination, and advanced nano hairstrokes.

Over the past six years in the industry, I’ve built a solid base of loyal clients, some I’ve been seeing since the very beginning, and earned nearly 1000 five-star reviews across various platforms. I’m incredibly proud of the trust I’ve built and the reputation I’ve earned as someone who truly sees and hears their clients. I work collaboratively to craft results that feel authentic to you, blending technical skill with genuine care, and always making space for your individual needs and preferences.

Studio D.E.W is the space I wish existed when I was younger. A space for people who’ve felt like outsiders, queer and trans community, neurodivergent and disabled folks, all my little weirdos out there, anyone who’s ever walked into a beauty clinic and felt like they didn’t belong.
